To provide the highest standard of care and accommodation, taking into the consideration the needs and wishes of each individual.

We are committed to ensuring our residents benefit from total 24 hour care whilst maintaining dignity, independence and an active and fulfilled quality of life.

 

Helping you settle in

We are very much aware of the anxieties of residents (and the families) when faced with the prospect of leaving ones own home and moving into the environment of residential care for the first time. From the moment you arrive we endeavour to help you relax and introduce you slowly to your new surroundings, and encourage you to bring small pieces of furniture and items of sentimental value to personalise your room. If your family are present, we suggest that together you take time to unpack and arrange your room as you wish. As a new resident you will meet with your dedicated key worker who is given prime responsibility for your care and to support you during the settling in period.

During the next few days a ‘Care Plan’ will be discussed with you, the family and your key-worker as to how best we can assist you with perhaps the tasks that you find difficult, without taking away your independence. We are not a nursing home and will not do everything for you, but gently encourage you to continue and hopefully enhance a little of what you could do at home.

Food

Mealtimes for all of us are important not just for nutrition but for social contact as well. All meals are prepared and cooked in our modern fully equipped kitchen by our two qualified chefs, meeting the highest health standards and offering quality and choice. Our menu changes daily and only the finest fresh ingredients are used, and we are able to comply with most special dietary requests. A complete review of the menus is made every three months and residents are including in the menu planning. A daily meal is also provided for all staff which helps provide the indicator for our consistently high standard. A great success with all the residents (and staff) are the fresh baked biscuits baked each day and served with morning or afternoon tea.

Drinks and snacks are freely available to residents throughout the day and night as required. Any visitors wishing to stay for lunch are most welcome to do so, with 24 hours notice, a small charge is made.

Staff

We employ well trained, dedicated staff who will hold a minimum of the NVQ level 2 training award, and all will receive certification to include First Aid, Moving & Handling, Drug Training, Health & Hygiene, Fire Safety, Bereavement Counselling, Podiatry care, Risk Infection Control, Dementia and Challenging Behaviour.

During the year, on-going staff supervisions and appraisals are conducted by the Care Manager, enforcing our Quality Assurance Programme and ensuring the staff are right up- to- date in their professional skills.

Activities & Entertainment

A wide range of activities and entertainment is provided where we encourage residents and families to participate. We have Keep-Fit, Reminiscence Programmes, Musical Theatre Groups, Bingo, Decorating hats (Easter), Christmas Parties, Pantomime and Old Film shows, and birthdays especially are celebrated with a birthday party, a cake freshly baked and decorated by our Chefs and entertainment by way of music and a sing-a-long.

During the summer months a mini bus is provided to take residents on trips to local amenities, such as a garden centre, tea room, or the theatre. Wherever we go, either a meal or afternoon tea will be included.
